Alan Hughes has a background of 30 years service with the then Gwynedd Fire Service and later the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, where he achieved the rank of Watch Manager (Sub Officer). He has set and maintained a very high standard of Service Delivery and was the Officer in Charge of countless emergencies ranging from Property Fires to Road Traffic Collisions, Air Accidents, Industrial entrapments to name but a few. Alan has more than 25 years of Aviation Fire and Rescue experience achieved by devoting his spare time teaching Airfield Firefighters. He holds a CAA Aerodrome Supervisors certificate and was the top student in this category at the Teesside College in 2004. Alan has been the Senior Airfield Fire Officer to the Popular Flying Association’s International Air Rally since 1990 an event which is the largest of its type anywhere outside the USA.
He has a vast experience of delivering Fire Safety advice to owners of private dwellings as well as instructing staff of residential care homes, industry and commerce. He also has instructor qualifications in a number of references and is the holder of an Introduction to Teaching certificate issued by Newport University.
Alan is well versed with TV and Film work, on both sides of the camera. He has worked on many local TV/Film productions, with the Hollywood movie ‘Willow’ and more recently on ‘Casualty at Holby’ the 2005 Christmas Special among them.
He was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1996 and the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal in 2003. He has also been awarded the Chief Fire Officer’s Letter of Congratulations and a Police Commendation for Bravery.

- PGCE (cert Ed) part one (Introduction to Teaching).
- Affiliate Member of The Institution of Fire Engineers
- Holder of IOSH Managing Safely certificate.
- First Aid qualified,
- CAA approved fire training provider for Licensed Aerodromes and Helipads.
- Lower Category Aerodrome Supervisor.
- A ‘Clean’ enhanced ‘CRB’ disclosure.
- Breathing Apparatus Instructor
- ‘Road Traffic Collision’ Extrication Instructor
- LGV Driving Instructor
- HIAB Crane Operator/Instructor
